Did you know Polis prints his business cards on hemp paper?

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis Polis outlined his plan for making hemp an agricultural mainstay in Colorado. Currently, 62,000 acres are allotted for hemp farming, which Polis wants to increase by 20 percent next year by speeding up registration procedures for farmers.

Our current governor continues to tout the benefits of a legal, regulated cannabis industry

Gov. Polis appeared on CNBC recently talking up the economic contributions of legalized marijuana, notably “nearly $50 million on marijuana sales in just 2 months in April and May.” Check out his full appearance here »


While the former governor – who is running for president –has “evolved slowly” on the issue.

Hickenlooper is not an advocate for marijuana use, saying that “he sometimes wonders if his own past marijuana use could have impaired his memory.”

There’s a new czar in town . . .

Gov. Jared Polis recently hired Ean Seeb, a founding partner at a cannabis business consulting firm, to serve as his special adviser on cannabis. Seeb will serve as the governor’s adviser for marijuana bills going through the legislature and be a liaison with the department of revenue, which oversees marijuana enforcement, among other state agencies.

AND that’s a wrap…

After what seemed like an eternity, the Colorado legislature closed out its 2019 session last week. There were 15 bills related to cannabis and hemp and thirteen passed. Only one has been signed into law by Gov. Jared Polis, but the others are expected to be signed in the near future. 

The highlights include bills:

“As one of the first states to (legalize cannabis), we get a lot of extra business from people coming into our state. . .  So from the economic perspective in Colorado, I’d love other states to go slowly so that we can continue to see all these benefits for Colorado. For years, I’d been sort of countering this sort of dire picture of Colorado. But again, if (other states) think that (legalization is) bad, it’s better for us to have less competition at this point. So I mean, if I’m looking at it as governor, I would hope they halt their efforts and send all their business here.”
