First the good …The first-ever report from Colorado State University-Pueblo’s Institute of Cannabis Research says the marijuana industry has had a net positive economic impact of more than $35 million in Pueblo County. At the same time, researchers say they found little conclusive evidence to support arguments that marijuana legalization has increased homelessness or contributed to other widespread social change.
Now the bad…Colorado’s congressional delegation was unable to do an end-run around Attorney General Jeff Sessions in the latest federal funding bill. They and more than a dozen other lawmakers wanted to include a provision to prohibit the Justice Department from cracking down on recreational marijuana use in states where it is legal.
And the really fake …If there’s one thing we learned in last year’s elections, you can’t believe everything you read. This month, this old hoax about Colorado McDonald’s restaurants installing marijuana “smoking pods” started making the rounds again. And no, it’s still not true.

In it’s ongoing efforts to protect public health and safety, reduce consumer confusion and improve industry compliance with the state’s marijuana laws, the Colorado Department of Revenue has adopted a universal symbol to clearly identify all cannabis-based products that can get you high.
“Whether it’s used on retail or medical marijuana products, the universal symbol helps both consumers and non-consumers easily identify that a product contains THC and avoid unintentional ingestion,” said Karin McGowan, executive director of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. “We’re confident that the integration of a single symbol will help streamline our public health message, which focuses on the importance of educating yourself, young people, and out-of-town guests about what the symbol means.”

Are pre-employment drug screenings falling out of favor?According to a recent report from Bloomberg News, some companies have been forced to change their stance on screenings in the wake of an ever-tightening job market and cannabis legalization. The report cites a survey of employers in Colorado that shows the number of companies testing for marijuana fell to 66 percent, down from 77 percent the year before. And it says all signs point toward that trend continuing.
