Meet Our Newest Board Member: Stephen Goldman of Kaycha Labs

Colorado Leads is pleased to welcome Stephen Goldman to the Colorado Leads Board of Directors!

As Chief Science Officer and Lab Director of Kaycha Labs in Colorado, Stephen is primarily focused on research and development, nationwide standardizations and new test development. Specifically, he’s been leading Kaycha’s efforts to develop cannabis vapor testing for metal contamination. Though testing is now required by state regulators, there is no standardized method for testing cannabis emissions. Goldman and Kaycha, however, appear to have successfully developed one, which you can read about here.

Prior to joining PhytaTech (the predecessor company to Kaycha Labs Colorado) in 2015, Stephen served as an analytical chemist at CLIA- and CAP-certified forensic laboratories and was a chemist for Novartis (Sandoz), Kemin Industries and Genentech. In those capacities, he was involved in researching biocatalyst production, new chemistry entities, nutraceutical development, antibody conjugate linkers, technical transfers, quality control, analytical method development and method creation and validation.

In 2019, Stephen received the ElSohly Award for Excellence in Cannabis Chemistry from the Cannabis Chemistry Subdivision (CANN). This first-ever cannabis chemistry award provides scholarships for students, researchers and industry professionals to present their work before the American Chemical Society, the largest scientific organization in the world.

Stephen graduated with honors from the University of Kansas with a master’s in pharmaceutical chemistry and received a bachelor’s degree in science from the University of Iowa. He  is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists and the Cannabis Chemistry Subdivision of the American Chemical Society.
